Eliza Woloson is an anthropologist and entrepreneur. She is the Co-founder and Managing Director of Women Have Wings, a human rights award established in 2012 from the selling of Amelia Earhart's Electra 10-E sister-ship. To date the award has honored fifty-one women of courage from around the world. In 1998, after her anthropological research in Sumbawa, Eliza founded Global Education Fund, a nonprofit that invests in transformative local solutions to education in emerging markets. In 2018, Global Education Fund merged with Girl Rising to launch a nonprofit Venture Fund to invest in local social entrepreneurs with culturally-relevant ideas to promote gender equality and improve education quality. Eliza was a Cornell FLAS scholar, a Harvard World Teach in China recipient, a Fellow at the Aspen Institute, the President of Beyond our Borders and a graduate of INTRAC Monitoring and Evaluation of International Aid. She has received numerous awards for her work. Eliza is an active member of the UN Committee of the International Women’s Forum, a Delegate for the UN Commission on the Status of Women and a Strategic Advisor at Collective Impact Partners. She is a Global Ambassador for the University of Colorado, Boulder and a mentor for MergeLane, an accelerator for female-led high-potential start-ups. In 2014, along with other parents of children with intellectual disabilities, Eliza co-founded the Initiative for Inclusive Post-Secondary Education in Colorado. From this initiative and Eliza’s statewide research, Senate Bill 196 was signed and Colorado campuses became inclusive of people with intellectual disabilities.
