On December 10, 2017, Beatrice Fihn, the Executive Director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of her organization. ICAN is a global coalition of non-governmental organizations that received the prize for their work to convince the United Nations to adopt its landmark nuclear weapon ban treaty in July of 2017.
