In a notable moment in the history of Women, Peace, and Security, Chief Commissioner for Human Rights in Northern Ireland Monica Williams launched the study on “Re-Imagining Women’s Security in Post-Conflict Societies.” The study was conducted across Northern Ireland, South Africa, and Lebanon. Among the list of policy recommendations that followed were a call for women to have a more direct role in conflict resolution and reconstruction (as endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325), measures addressing gendered inequalities of power, and further analysis of the way men and women relate during major transitions of power.
