Raising Women’s Voices: When You Belong, You Protect
This Raising Women’s Voices video blog highlights the work of Sally Mboumien, one of OSF's Distinguished Partners for WPS.
This week we are recognizing another of our Distinguished Partners for Women, Peace and Security. Sally Mboumien is the General Coordinator for Southwest/Northwest Women’s Task Force Cameroon.
The South West North West Women Taskforce (SNWOT) is a coalition of women activists and women-led organizations from the English-speaking and Francophone regions of Cameroon. Their goal is to ensure women’s meaningful participation and incorporation of their issues within the peace process as well as all levels of decision-making in solving the crisis.
The Task Force advocates for change by shifting perceptions of women’s contribution to society and peace processes, educating about women’s health rights, and most recently, training community members on health practices for COVID-19. Watch Mboumien’s full interview below!
Raising Women’s Voices is a series of blogs and videos highlighting the work of women peacebuilders from around the globe. During the COVID-19 crisis, we want to highlight the work of women because it is more critical than ever to support women peacebuilders who are key to maintaining stable and peaceful communities. We will feature interviews with the awardees for Distinguished Partners for Women, Peace and Security 2020, and stories from our Global Polling Project, originally posted on World Pulse. We will continue to amplify women’s voices with new stories through this campaign.
